Abacus (Epsilon) Catalogs and Magazines
When you buy something from a mail order catalog, your transaction is likely to be reported to Abacus. Abacus members, mostly catalog and publishing companies, contribute and exchange information about their customers. Your name may also be sold to other catalog and publishing companies. If you register with www.DMAChoice.org, you do not need to contact Abacus. Otherwise, there are two ways to opt out of the Abacus database. You’ll need your name, including any middle initial, your current address, and if you’ve moved recently, your previous address.

Catalog Mailing Lists – Canada

Sign up for the Canadian Marketing Associations Do Not Contact Service at the-cma.org. This will remove you from all catalog lists for a period of six years. It takes about six weeks to take effect.

Note:  It won’t stop unaddressed flyers sent to “Homeowner” or “Occupant.”

Catalog Mailing Lists – UK

Set up a free account with the Mailing Preference Service. You’ll continue to receive mail from any company that you’ve done business with in the past, but will be removed from further unsolicited mailings. It can take up to four months to stop the mailings, and you can register a complaint on the site if you continue to get mailings after that period. A handy feature is that you can register previous occupier names, your previous addresses.

ADMA | Do Not Mail

ADMA’s Do Not Mail Register is a service to help consumers opt out of unwanted or unsolicited mail. It also reduces costs for marketers and helps easily identify customers who have opted out of receiving mail.

Removal List – Canada

Canada Post | Stop receiving Junk Mail

To stop getting unaddressed advertising, simply put a note on your mailbox stating that you do not wish to receive Canada Post Neighborhood Mail. Place the note in or on your mailbox, or on the inside lip of your community mailbox, group mailbox or postal box.

DO NOT SELL MY NAME

When you buy from Catalogs on-line or over the phone, make certain you let the company know you DO NOT want them to sell your name or send Promotional materials.

Most people notice a difference in about three months. Be patient, removal of your name can sometimes take 4-6 months.
